Mechanics Lien?

CaliforniaLawsuitLien Releases

I’m a contractor, did a job and wasn’t paid. I filed a mechanics lien via levelset and now received a letter from the clients attorney demanding i rescind or face legal action. Is this a common response or scare tactic to a mechanic lien? Haven’t done this before and not sure how/if to proceed with it? I want to be paid but didn’t expect this. Thank you, Bill

Bill, Yes, this is a common response. How you proceed depends upon the contents of the letter and circumstances of the recording of the lien. You should consider retaining legal counsel to whom you can show the letter and obtain legal advice. Best, Jon -- M. Jonathan Robb, Jr., Esq.
