Mechanic lien filed against my property

California

I received a mechanics lien notice from a company that was hired by a contractor I hired back in December 2021. They are claiming that payment was not received by my contractor. My contractor advised back in December that all was taken care of. This is the first notice I get regarding this lien. I never received an invoice or anything from said company. Is this lien valid?

It depends on a few factors, incuding the nature of this company's work (e.g., supplier, subcontractor, etc.), whether they are properly licensed (if required), and whether they timely and properly served a preliminary notice. Chances are that if you did not receive a preliminary notice by certified mail, FedEx, or personal delivery from this claimant, that the lien may not be valid.
