Greetings I'm a homeowner who hired a contractors to do work after Hurricane Ida on my roof. I paid the deductible which was a down payment for the project. I also paid the remaining balance for the roof to the contractor per my insurance check. I received a lien notice on my property from the company that provided the materials for the roof. How am I obligated to this lien? Why as the homeowner can a lien be put on my home and not the contractor - especially when I have already paid them for that part of the project? What protection do I have - what course can I take to remedy this?
