Lien expiration

Missouri

I filed a mechanics lien for failed payment 13 months ago in the state of Missouri. When does the lien on the property expire? Customer was going to sell property, but had several liens against as nonpayment issues with all contractors. Can I still take to court or has it been too long

Unfortunately Missouri law requires that you file a lawsuit to foreclose on the lien no later than 12 months after it is filed, or it becomes unenforceable by law. You may still have the ability to file a lawsuit for a breach of contract or some other cause of action, depending on your set of circumstances.
