Late lien filing

Florida

There is a GC he used to pay me in good manners. so I trusted him. But now he bought himself a house and doesn't have a money for payments from the jobs. I didn't send a notices on last to jobs to the owners and he owe me $16k now. I have very strong contracts but go through court would hurt everybody. Can I file a lien even if I already missed a deadlines? Is that really subject to sue me back? I just want to try. Thank you guys

If you file a lien without having preserved your lien rights, you may expose yourself to litigation and you may have to pay attorneys' fees. You can still try to work it out without litigation or sue for a breach of contract, you just won't have the leverage that a lien provides.
