Is there a statute of limitations for filing against a roofing contractor?

Florida

I had some roofing and solar installation done in 2019. Roofing was subcontracted out, GC foreman admitted to have hired a less than desirable company to complete roof install. Now we have had issue after issue and leaks and incomplete work. Company is avoiding returning calls or emails.

Yes. In your case it is four years from when you knew that you had a problem. If the roof work was subcontracted the GC is liable to you for the defective workmanship.

What if you purchased a home and then found out the roof was installed incorrectly, with no water proofing layer, but the contractor who installed it was hired by 2 owners ago. Is there still liability attached, and does my statute of limitations start when I discovered the problem?
