is there a risk in filling mechanical lien?

New YorkMechanics Lien

Hello, the Client who broke the contract and refused to pay us (balance of $50-70k) after we painted (interiors) of the townhouse in NYC. Then he right away moved into the townhouse and threatened us, that if we sue him he will totally mess up us since we do not have a plumbing license ( Part of the contract was also renovation of the bathroom and I brought a licensed plumber. When the time came to do the bathroom he refused a licensed plumber and said we should do it since it was a minor thing - replacement of the tub and we did it ). He is renting the townhouse. Should we proceed with Mechanical Lien or it rather will hurt us even more? I do appreciate your reply. Thanks,

i am not sure that replacing a tub requires a licensed plumber, hooking up teh drain might. do you have a Consumer Affairs permit to do residential work? if so, you may lien adn sue, if not, you have a major problems.
