Is contract still viable after signing over a year ago and never starting work?

Arizona

IN Az, there was a contract signed for F,F&E to start in May 2019. During the job they ran into a mold situation. The job has been pushed for over a year while rectifying that situation. Now, knowing that , is the contract still good if no work has been done, or can we opt out? Thank you

That depends on the terms of your contract. If the contract is silent then the courts will look at what is reasonable. If the contractor has been standing by ready, willing and able to do the job. But, has been prohibited from doing so because of matters beyond the contractor's control (such as mold not caused by the contractor) then it is likely that the contractor can still enforce the contract, even a year later.
