Is an Engineer Firm required to send a Preliminary Notice in any states?

We work in many states, how do I know whether a Preliminary NOtice applies to Engineering Firms?

If the property against which the lien is being claimed is residential, the claimant must first file a NUB (Notice of Unpaid Balance), as well as file a demand for arbitration with the Amercian Arbitration Asscoiation.
