CaliforniaLien Releases

We got word from the GC that they should be getting a check on 2-29. I feel like we should just leave lien in place at this point. Is there any reason I should make any changes?

Deciding if and when to release a mechanics lien when given a promise to pay can be difficult. But keep in mind, that a promise to pay isn't the same as payment. You don't want to lose your mechanics lien leverage and wind up still unpaid. It's best practice to wait until you have cash or check in hand. If you do end up releasing the claim, keep an eye on your deadlines. If there is still ample time to file, then you may be able to simply re-file. But that costs time and money. I just wanted to follow-up and confirm you've been paid on this project.

If I can further assist your company with any unpaid invoices, please feel free to call or email. Remember, while perfected lien rights do afford a more direct path to payment, my firm can succeed for you even when lien rights have expired or were never pursued.
