We filed a lien against a property owner for unpaid bills. Their lawyer is telling us that we can not file against the landlord because they do not have a contract with us, and that we can only file against the tenant. Is this correct?

Depends, but most likely LL Attorney is correct assuming there is a proper written lease agreement between LL and Tenant.
