If our company receives a notice of furnishing in Ohio... what is our next step or responsibility? Or do we just make note and file in job file.
Generally, upon receiving a Notice of Furnishing, an owner or contractor won't really need to do much in terms of required response.
Often, an Ohio Notice of Furnishing will also request a copy of the project's Notice of Commencement - and, if that's the case, a copy of that Notice of Commencement must be given quickly. Within 10 days of receiving the request, to be exact. But, otherwise, a contractor or owner doesn't really have a required response to a Notice of Furnishing.
Granted, it's a good idea to make note of who's sent notice. That way, it's easier to get a good idea of who all is working on the job. And, when it comes time to release payments, having that notice information will help determine who all lien waivers will need to be collected from.
