If a mechanics lien release is being recorded, the filing date will not have nearly the importance as the filing date of an original mechanics lien filing. Regardless, the date on which the lien release document is completed should likely be the date that appears on that release. If more than one attempt must be made to release the lien, each attempt at releasing the lien should contain the date on which that particular document was created.
