This isn't really a legal issue, but I will say this: you are about to put a cloud on someone's title to real estate because they haven't paid you. That means your relationship with the property owner has become unfriendly. Why would you entrust your tools and/or equipment to someone with whom you aren't on good terms? I would not leave my stuff at the job site.
