I'm in Missouri, I was fired at 95% completion do to this contractor screaming back at a hostile client.

That's a great question. Unfortunately, I'm unaware of any affect a mechanics lien might have on tax credits (though there are a number of other ways that a mechanics lien filing will work to compel payment). However, there may be some other resources online more familiar with tax credits that could be of use. Particularly, at Avvo and JustAnswer, lawyers from all specialties (including tax law) are available to answer legal questions. They may be able to provide some insight as to whether a mechanics lien filing would affect tax credits.
