I want to enforce my mechanic lien

Illinois

I had a written contract, to remodel a basement while I'm doing the work the customer liked my work and gave me more work under a verbal contract, after the job was done, she doesn't want to pay me, and she selected few items out of the long list and put her own price out of 17,000 she paid me $1500.00 only. I put a mechanic's lien on her property, now I want to enforce that lien. thanks

Assuming the lien was properly perfected and recorded, you can file suit to foreclose the lien.

Your next step (unless you can negotiate a deal directly and assuming the lien is properly asserted) would be to file a lawsuit to enforce the lien. It can be done without an attorney, but generally I would recommend you at least speak with a lawyer to determine how next to proceed. If you're interested, please reach out to me directly for a free consultation.

I am not sure what your question is, but you have 2 years from the date of the last work for which the lien was filed to file suit to enforce it.
