Correct - under the recent CARES stimulus package, unemployment benefits were boosted by $600 per week for a period of four months. For a thorough breakdown of the stimulus package and how it applies to the construction industry, this article should be really useful: What’s in the $2 Trillion Coronavirus Stimulus Bill For Construction Businesses & Their Workers?

I started my unemployment claim on Feb. 25, 2020. Will I be eligible for the $600.00 add to my regular unemployment check each week? Thank you!

I have to disagree with the answer posted immediately above. The $600 addition to unemployment benefits are coming, but no one has received the $600 yet. By most accounts (including the New York Times), those additional $600 payments should be starting soon - potentially, this week. And, this makes sense - the CARES Act is brand new, and it's going to take some time to organize and disburse funds. For a thorough breakdown of who's eligible, and for info on who might not be eligible, these resources will be useful: - Expanded unemployment benefits: Who qualifies, how to apply | MarketWatch - These workers won’t qualify for beefed-up unemployment in the coronavirus relief package

I just looked on NY unemployment website. I got the $600 added today (April 6) with my file for last week. I first filed in July when my job closed. Now that my new job is closed for the state of emergency I'm receiving it again, with the CARES bonus

Will the $600 be added in a sum to make up for unemployment already received since Covid 19 shutdown? Or is it only starting with April’s unemployment? I’m sorry I don’t understand as well as I wish I did.

Is the 600.00 a separate check or do they combine it with your weekly scheduled check??

It sounds like the $600 should be automatically added to the regular unemployment checks. From what I can tell, there aren't additional steps necessary to receive the $600. However, just because you haven't received it yet doesn't necessarily mean there should necessarily be cause for concern - it may take some states longer to work out the kinks than others. If you are concerned you aren't receiving your full benefit, reaching out to your local or state unemployment office should help to figure out whether there's an issue or whether the delay is normal. I also came across this article when looking for information, and I think it might be useful: 9 questions about how to get the coronavirus stimulus funds, answered | Vox.

Will the amount be pro-rated for part-time employees who have been furloughed, or will it be $600.00 for EVERYONE?

The CARES Act and the $600 additional unemployment payments are both brand new - so it's entirely possible (if not expected) that there will be some delays. However, from the messages earlier in this thread, it sounds like some folks have started receiving the $600. Regarding pro-ration - the full $600 will be available to everyone qualifying for and receiving unemployment benefits.

Something told me to look at my bank account today, and the first 600.00 extra stimulus payment came today (Wed) from unemployment in my bank account. I got my regular unemployment yesterday (Tues), so yes it's real everyone! Just keep checking your bank account or debit card from your state every day! Be Safe!
