I filed a lien on a property for non payment

Colorado

I have filed a lien on a property for nonpayment and I just found out that the property sold a week ago. Is it possible to sell a house when there is an active lien on it and what should I expect now?

It is always possible to sell a house with a lien. The title company normally makes a decision that the lien is not valid as it expired or other factors. You can expect not to get paid unless you sue the liable party. So, contact an attorney and provide them all the facts and they can advise you. Generally, the best first step is for that attorney to make a demand and hopefully, that will move this along to settlement. It may not, especially if the liable party no longer resides in Colorado and you did not have a contract that provided Colorado law and venue. These are all things, along with many others, that your attorney will want to review.
