Michigan's Frequently Asked Questions site on the coronavirus stay at home order provides some great intel into what is and is not allowed during this COVID-19 outbreak. That page states that those "who provide services that are necessary to maintaining the safety, sanitation, and essential operation of residences" fall under "critical infrastructure workers" and are thereby considered essential. With that being said, if the work isn't really necessary for safety, then that might not be essential work. Governor Whitmer has been pretty staunch in her response to the coronavirus outbreak and what's considered "essential" business. To quote: "if businesses are not sure if they're life-sustaining, assume they are not." For a state-by-state breakdown of where construction work can continue, this tracker should be valuable: Can I do Construction Work In my State?
