How to remove a mechanic's lien (not pefected within 90 days)?

CaliforniaLien Releases

I am a owner and have an invalid lien(not perfected within 90 days) and not able to reach contractor anymore. What is the process to remove this lien and how long it takes in the current situation?

You can make a demand that the contractor release the lien under California Civil Code §§ 8480-8488. Mail the lien claimant a written demand to remove the lien within 10 days. Send the demand via certified mail to the address for the contractor shown on the 20 day preliminary notice , the contract, the lien, or the CSLB website.

If the lien claimant fails to comply, you will need to file a petition to have the lien removed. Best to have an attorney do this as you would be entitled to an award of the attorney's fees for the cost to do so under California Civil Code §8488.
