I received a 20 day notice March 4th, most of the invoices from this rental company are old and would not be covered by the notice. How do I contest the notice to preLien? These machines were never at my construction site.

There is no need to contest a prelien. All a preliminary 20-day notice does is preserve lien rights if there are any lien rights to preserve. What you want to watch for is an actual mechanic's lien. That is what encumbers the property. A preliminary 20-day notice is not a public record, does not affect the property, and has no real legal effect unless a mechanic's lien is recorded.
