How to collect waivers

Is the supplier required to provide progress and final waivers to general contractors upon general contractor requests or does the general contractor need to go through the subcontractor?

Ultimately, there isn’t a lot of regulation regarding how lien waivers must be collected. So, if a GC requests a lien waiver, a supplier providing them with one directly might be perfectly fine. Of course, it might be worth letting a subcontractor know that you’ll be requesting a waiver from their supplier so they are informed and up to date on everything. But, in terms of what’s allowed, there’s nothing preventing a supplier from providing a GC their lien waiver directly and bypassing their customer.
