How should this be handled? Should it be a cause for concern?

Do I need a lien waver for materials used by a pool contractor at my property? I am planning to make the final payment when they complete the work on Monday December 14, 2020. I am concerned because today, December 12, 2020, I received a certified letter from a concrete supplier which contained a Notice of Right to Lien. Should I be concerned and what should I do to protect myself from future problems?

You need to tell your general contractor that you want him/her to provide you with conditional final lien releases in exchange for your final payment for the general and all subcontractors who worked on the Project. This way, all contractors, subcontractors and suppliers' lien rights will terminate upon them getting paid. Getting a Notice of Right to Lien is not a problem, provided the general contractor pays all of its subs and suppliers. That notice is simply provided in order to ensure that you know they are out there and if they do not get paid, the can file a lien against your property. You should also get a list of all contractors and suppliers who provided either labor or materials to the Project. Good Luck.
