I’m a painting contractor,I was contacted by a person that wants me to paint their recent purchased home. He tells me that he’s in the military and that he’s not in town and that he wants me to paint his house and that he would send me a check via email to start the job.

I assume you are asking if this is something that you should do? Take on the risk of this? Unfortunately, I can't tell you yes or no. This is definitely a situation that you will have to weigh the risk on for you and your company. I would ask if this is a residential project, do they have a homestead expemtion on it?
