A mechanics lien is perfected when recorded, but your next step will be to enforce the lien if payment has not been made. A “Notice of Intent to Foreclose” the lien may also be helpful, but is certainly not required by California law.
In California, a mechanics lien must be enforced within 90 days from the date on which the lien was recorded. If this 90-day period passes, the lien expires. Be sure to take note of that deadline first and foremost.
To enforce the lien, an action must be filed, so you should hire a California construction attorney to help with this process.
