How do you perfect a mechanics lien?

California

We have filed a mechanics lien - order no. 5597536. We would now like to "perfect" it? Is it the same as the recording? Please advise.

You have to file the lawsuit to foreclose the lien within 90 days of filing the lien with the County Recorders Office.

No, filing a lien is different from perfecting a lien. Once you file your lien, you must “perfect” the lien by filing a lawsuit to foreclose the lien within 90 days of the lien recording date. You’ll need to hire an attorney to help you with this. I’m happy to answer any questions you have about this.
