Releasing a mechanics lien is easy. The lien claimant will simply file a lien release document with the county recorder, much like the lien was filed. Sometimes, though, the lien release document will be provided directly to the customer and they'll file the release themselves.

As far as whether this process changes due to the lien being bonded off - I'm not entirely certain whether filing a lien release will be necessary. Rather, simply providing a waiver might be acceptable if the lien has already been bonded off. And, asking the surety or customer what's necessary might be a good step there.
