Dear Contractor,

Assuming you are making a claim against a statutory payment bond: 

• Timely file a proper preliminary notice on the Utah State Construction Registry (here is a link: https://secure.utah.gov/scr/guide/index.html).
• Send a demand for payment letter.
• File a lawsuit against the bond within one year of your last date of work.
