How do I place a lien on buildings I built on my father's property?

MinnesotaLien Priority

I've been building a cabin & barn on my father's rural Minnesota property for years & it's unfinished. I have receipts from the major structural components in my name. We now need to sell his land due to him going into Alzheimer memory care. This property is willed to me but the state will require him to liquidate his assets at market value to cover Medicaid. Therefore, he can't give me the property or sell it undervalued. I plan on purchasing the property but don't want to pay for my barn and cabin AGAIN. My eldercare attorney recommended we put a lien on these buildings then that amount would come back to me during the sale. Is this possible considering I'm not a contractor and there was no written contract/price up front? Not sure how to determine a lien value if this is possible.
