How do I place a lien on a home to prevent the buyer from closing on in January 17th?

I am a licensed home inspector who completed a home inspection for the buyer. I have not been paid my fee. The buyer signed an Inspection Agreement where he agreed to pay me $325. Can I place a lien on the home ASAP to keep the buyer from closing on it which is scheduled for January 17th? Thanks, John

As a home inspector, I am not sure that you qualify for a mechanic's lien as those are for value added to the real estate as opposed to for contract.  Also, the lien process may be too expensive for such a small amount.  Finally, the chances of this getting filed and recorded by Friday of this week are not good. Of course this is simply based upon the small amount of information that you present here.

Thank you for your response. Am I best to pursue this through small claims court?
