How do I place a lien against my neighbor's property?

California
Rick Poon

The house next door has been vacant over 2 years. The fence between our properties was able to fall down and it was a safety issue. The owner of the house lives in Southern California. I called and left her a message stating that the fence needs to be replaced. I received no callback. I sent her a certified letter and I received confirmation that it was signed for, but again no reply back. I couldn't wait any longer so I recently had the fence replaced. I took pictures of the old fence and I have the estimate and the amount I paid for the new fence. I would like to place a lien on her house. I live in Placer County in Northern California.

Morning Rick,

Sorry that you are in this situation, and thank you for reaching out, however, we specialize in Mechanic Liens, which are liens against a property for labor and/or material on a construction project. What you are looking at is more of a property issue, and I would suggest contacting an attorney specializing in property law.

If anything else can help, please let me know, otherwise you can look here at California Lien Law to see if I anything else works for you.
