I did some work on a car for a friend of a friend. While waiting for the guy to come pick up the car and pay me, I found out from our mutual friend that he died. From what I understand, he has no family or heirs. I would like to keep the car as payment for the work I performed. How do I go about doing that? I am not a licensed mechanic and I don't work in a shop. I am a licensed electrical contractor and I did perform electrical repairs on this vehicle. Do I file a mechanic's lien or ??? Not sure how to proceed.
