How do I extend a mechanics lien in CT?

ConnecticutMechanics Lien
Anonymous General Contractor

I filed a mechanics lien in July for non-payment of completed work. Will I need to extend the lien to keep it active in 1 year?

An action to enforce a Connecticut mechanics lien must be commenced within 1 year after recording lien. Failure to file an action prior to such 1-year period will automatically extinguish the lien. There are no extensions.

There is no way to extend a lien beyond one year in CT. By statute, the lien must be foreclosed within 1 year of recording.
