How do I discharge a lien?

FloridaLien Releases

Someone placed a lien on my property based on an agreement with the previous owner who passed away over 20 years ago. I filed a notice to contest the lien. The lienor did not reply. What do I file to have the lien removed?

This forum is for contractor questions about getting paid. I am responding because contractors need to know this answer to your question. If suit to enforce the lien was not filed within the 60-day window allowed by the lien contest law then the lien has expired. An expired lien cannot be revived and enforcement of it is permanently barred. Although the lien appears on the public record so does the notice contesting it, and the fact that suit to enforce it was not timely filed. All of this occurs by operation of law and nothing further must be done, nor can anything further be done.
