How can I proceed, if I missed the deadline to send a preliminary notice?

California
Anonymous General Contractor

I missed the deadline to send a preliminary notice, our project started on February, the contract is in California. I would like to know what is the best way to proceed, we haven't had an inconvenience yet, but I would like to be prepared if something comes up.

Send the prelim now even though it is late as it reaches back 20 days from service. Please also know that typically general contractors, if they are in direct contract with the owner, do not need to serve a prelim in order to preserve their lien rights.
