If you're looking for the legal description of a property you own, begin with the deed you received when you acquired the property (which will give you the full legal description, plus parcel number). You can also find the parcel number on your property tax bill. Local tax assessors should also have the legal descriptions available online or some are willing to fax them to you. In Michigan, this website (BS&A, link below) provides access to property information for most, but not all, municipalities, including assessed value, owner and legal description. Most municipalities provide the information free of charge. Those that do have a paywall charge $1 or $2. And if you check the box as the property owner, there is no charge. Here's the site I'm referring to --  https://bsaonline.com/MunicipalDirectory
