I am filling out the Mechanics lien form, & I know the total amount of the outstanding invoices,but was wondering if I can add an amount to that for the fees?

California liens must include a "statement of the claimant’s demand after deducting all just credits and offsets,” but what this actually means, and what amounts may be included can be tricky to figure out.

In fact, we get similar questions from construction participants in California pretty frequently - here's a good discussion about whether a California lien may include attorney fees, lien costs, or interest.

While there are different circumstances surrounding each and every lien claim, the general rule is constant. A claimant in California may claim a lien for the value of the work furnished to the job - but not for extra amounts.
