General contractors bond

CaliforniaRecovery Options

I had a contractor build an addition on my house. The foundation was poured with multiple air pockets and weak spots which were never addressed before framing and completion of the addition. I had a second foundation company evaluate the safety of the foundation and they said that there were 3 vertical cracks over .25 inches for the entire length of the foundation. The floor Joyce’s were not supported by the brackets and the footings were not set correctly. The concrete has multiple air pockets which must be filled. I had the contractor address these issues but I am concerned that there are many other issues we cannot see in the foundation. I would like to know if this requires the entire foundation to be repoured and if the entire addition must be torn down. I have photo documentation of the entire build for evidence. I have before and after photos of the foundation repairs. Also, if I file a claim against the contractors bond, do I have to use the bonds recommended contractor or do they send me a check to hire my own contractor? Thank you in advance.

Typically, if a bond claim is validated the bond company will send you a check to cover the damages, up to the bond amount. You are then free to choose a contractor to repair the problem.
