Does this qualify as unlicensed contracting?

ArizonaLicenses

I hired a contractor to remodel my kitchen and living room. In the state of Arizona my contractor has two licenses, CR60(finish carpentry) and CR61(carpentry, remodeling and repairs). The CR60 doesn't have an upper limit of price but the CR61 states projects under $50,000 including labor and materials. The contract that I signed was for $47,650. but then after they started I decided I wanted to include a new fireplace as well. So per the contract we processed a written change order that we both agreed to for $3,400. There have been several other change orders as the result of plumbing and cracks too, but the first one pushed the total over the $50K upper limit. Additionally, I purchased my cabinets and appliances separately because I get a discount through my work. That was about another $30,000. Would those be included as materials pushing the project over 50K from the start? When I initially had them come out for the estimate I asked to make sure they were licensed and they said they could do anything other than build an addition to my home.

Probably not and the cost of litigation to have a fact finder allocate what part of the contract belongs solely under one license or another, to determine whether and to what extent unlicensed contracting took place, is definitely not worth it.
