Does the customer have to pay if they sign a contract and then decide to pull out of the deal halfway through the job

WashingtonConstruction Contract

If I'm hired to do a project and I'm a licensed contractor, and I start the job and a little over halfway through the job the customer decides to back out of the contract are they still obligated to pay me for the contract or at the very least for the work that has already been done?

Definitely for the work that has already been done and for any materials you have purchased for the job but not yet used.
