If a contractor has already filed a lien, then months later signs a lien waiver for a different amount than original lien, can the original lien still be executed, and forclosed?

Did the lien waiver make reference to the original lien and include the recording information such as date and official records book & page number?

No, it does not reference that. It is for the original amount of the contract. Now the co tractors attorney is threatening forclosure, over 4 grand, that the motgage company says, we dont owe... should we just pay the 4 grand?
