does a partial waiver negate a finalwaiver?

Illinois

I have a customer who requested a partial waiver and a final waiver on the same job and I was confused why they did that and if since we did both if the amounts would then be added together? I was out of the office and someone else did this without proper knowledge.

A partial-waiver of lien should reflect the value of work and materials through the date of the waiver. A final-waiver should reflect the value of ALL work and materials through the end of the project. If the partial-waiver and final-waiver you gave reflect different amounts through the same date, that contradiciton could be troubleseome: however, it is not unusual to issue a partial (or several partials) and a final. The difference should represent where you were at different points in time.

I hope this information was helpful. Good luck.
