does a lien attach to a leaseholder space or to the property where the space is located??

We sold product to a customer in TX who defaulted on his payment. We filed a lien using the project property address. The property owner claims the lien would not hold up in court because the project was a leasehold improvement project and we should have filed the lien on the leaseholder. Is that correct?
