Do you file a prelien on design and engineering of a project

Yes, you should serve the direct contractor, owner, and construction with a preliminary notice. A preliminary notice only preserves lien rights for 20 days prior to sending the notice, and for any work done after the notice is sent.

Yes, you should do a Preliminary Notice for this type of work. It’s best to get into the habit of sending a Preliminary Notice on every job you do. That way it becomes automatic and you won’t forget when it really matters.
