We have a client that is claiming that us remedying their punch list items extend the deadline to file a lien. Can you please provide me an understanding?

The Wisconsin statutes do not provide a clear answer on this question, and I am unaware of a case that speaks directly to this issue. Most states find that relatively minor punch list work does not affect lien deadlines... ie that punch list work is not the 'last work' on the project. Conversely, I could see very extensive punch list work being considered more like a change order and re-starting the lien deadlines. The devil is in the details.
