I filed a mechanics lien on a job and the general contractor and I are trying to work out a solution to get paid. If i cancel my current mechanics lien will my lien rights still be in place?

You should not "cancel" you mechanics lien before you are paid. There is a high risk that either 1) you will waive the right to refile a lien if the negotiations do not result in your payment; or 2) even if you aren't waiving your right to file a subsequent lien, that you will blow your lien deadline since you will still be held to the standard deadlines applicable to the filing of your first lien.
