Do I need to send a new Preliminary Notice for a job that has added additional material to their order?

PennsylvaniaPreliminary Notice

We received an order that is in addition to an order for a job that is already in LevelSet. The original order was fulfilled and paid. This additional order is for the same address/job but has a different PO and Job #. Do I need to send another Preliminary Notice for this job?

First, note that preliminary notice is very rarely required in Pennsylvania. If the project is over $1.5M and if the owner filed a Notice of Commencement in the State Construction Notice Registry, then a sub or supplier would need to send a Notice of Furnishing. Still, it's a good idea to send a preliminary notice, regardless of whether one is required. And, to gain the benefit of preliminary notice (i.e. improved transparency and communication), then it might be a good idea to send a second preliminary notice when a completely separate order is placed for the job. That way, transparency and communication are on high. In the event that a Notice of Furnishing is required on the job, then it'd probably be wise to send a separate Notice of Furnishing for each totally separate order placed on the job. That way, all of the work being done on the job has been identified by a notice. For more information on Pennsylvania preliminary notices: Pennsylvania Preliminary Notice Guide and FAQs.
