Do I need to resend preliminary notice to GC and Owner after adding the bond information and send it to the surety comp?

CaliforniaPreliminary Notice

The project is a public work in California and the contract amount is over $25,000.00. We already sent preliminary notice to GC and Owner 2 months ago, but the preliminary notice didn't have bond information listed on it. Now, we added GC's bond information and send it to the surety company. Does we need to resend update preliminary notice to GC and Owner? We don't want to lose our spot.

Generally, the surety and bond information don't have to appear on a CA preliminary notice for a public project. So, while having that bond information will come in handy, there's no need to send an updated or revised preliminary notice once you've obtained the name of the surety and the bond information. Sending a preliminary notice to the surety makes a lot of sense and could come in handy later on the job. And, if prelims were sent a while ago, providing the surety with a copy of the already-sent notice might be useful. But, re-sending your preliminary notices simply to add bond information or to make sure the notice is sent to the surety is generally unnecessary.
