Do I need to file a "Notice of ID" to protect my lien rights? Are lien reights protected without filing a Notice of ID?

MassachusettsLien Deadlines

I am a supplier/sub (Product Only) of an engineered product to a Sheet Metal Contractor who is sub to a Mechanical Contractor who is sub to a General Contractor who is sub to the Owner. Are lien rights protected without filing a Notice of ID? Does a Notice of ID need to be sent to all of the contractors in the chain?

You don't file it anywhere you send to general and owner via certified mail preferably at the start of the project. You might as well send a copy to your upchain contractor

You still may recover for sums even if you dont but it could end up being less or 0 depending on when payments were made
