Do I need a hvac or a insulation license to own a blow in insulation company in iowa

IowaLicenses

Im wanting to open my company for consulting and marketing for blow in insulation and radiant barrier. Do i need a certain license to start a business for installing these in Des Moines, Ia for residential? It's unclear when i research about Blow In insulation and states hvac master license but does that include blow in insulation and radiant barrier?

Big picture: you need a sales tax permit, and if you are operating as an HVAC master, registration with the state. Other considerations: from "insulating" against risk, you might want to think about setting up an LLC

The Iowa Code requires mechanical contractors to be licensed, but the definition of a mechanical contractor doesn't include insulation. If the insulation is for, or is part of, a fire protection system, then a license is required from the state fire marshal. I suggest you call the Iowa Department of Public Health, which is where the plumbing and mechanical systems board is located, and ask them. Probably the only way you can be certain.
